I can't believe this award has not been announced already. There are many deserving. You could make a strong case for Walker Wood (Lafayette) or Jamale Carothers (Bowling Green).

With that said, my pick is Pulaski County's Jake Johnson. He scored rushing, passing, receiving, special teams, interception touchdowns this season. He has set many state records, mostly topping James Quick (Trinity & Louisville) & John Cole (Somerset & Vanderbilt). He has a offers from many NAIA schools, a preferred walk-on spot reserved at Louisville, interest from Purdue & EKU. Word through the grapevine is WKU has been coming in hard late in the game following the coaching change. His game closely compares to Wes Welker with size and speed. I would personally compare him to Hunter Renfrow, walk-on at Clemson.

Who are your picks for Mr. Football in Kentucky?

They will not be hiring from within the staff. I've heard from a source inside the program they have chosen a coach named Marvin Danzler who used to coach at Booker T Washington in Oklahoma. This hasn't been announced yet so please keep this information here at the present time.

He told me that he's skipping baseball season this year to focus on gaining weight for football season. He's a dual threat kid and he weighs in at 6-foot-even and weighs about a buck seventy. Would be interesting to see how he plays with an extra 15 pounds of muscle next year.

Here is my review of the Best of the Bluegrass. I was really impressed with how hard these kids went at it in an all star exhibition game. KY has a lot of talent and we need to do a much better job promoting these kids!

Best of the Bluegrass

New high school in Hamburg area of Lexington. I believe they'll be the Stallions. I have heard from multiple sources that a head coach is close to being name.

1A - Paintsville - It's hard for me to go against the Phelps brothers. I can also see Russellville, Raceland, & Beechwood making a run at it.

2A - Mayfield - They're about the only team in this class who is battle tested. Their schedule will help them win 2A fairly easy.

3A - Belfry - Hard to go against the Pirates. Corbin is the only other one with a shot.

4A - Franklin-Simpson - I really, really wanted to say Johnson Central here, but I have learned to never trust the Eagles in the playoffs. They have the players, but their schedule never does them any favors year in and year out.

5A - Bowling Green - Period. It's not close.

6A - Trinity - One horse race at the moment. I can see maybe a Lafayette or a Male improving enough to be competitive. Upsets can happen.

Another great season. Desales ends GHS season again, the one thing Glasgow couldn't afford to do they did, they gave up a TD without Desales offense ever getting on the field, GHS was down 28-0 before they ever knew what happened, down 38/7 at the half those kids played their hearts out in the 2nd half gaining over 300 yards and cutting the lead to 38/28, but it was to much to overcome. they should be proud of the fact that they never gave up.

In trying to build up this site a little more and peak some conversation, I thought I would throw out a preview of the middle school football championships finishing up the next two weekends.

8th Grade Division 1 - Northern Pulaski looks to be the favorite as they are the defending 7th grade state champion. They play Knox County this weekend in what many think will be the state championship game played early. Northern beat them 32-20 earlier in the regular season, but that game was closer than the score indicated. Should be a battle this Saturday in Belfry. I look for the winner to win the state championship. I'll predict Newburg (Louisville), Crosby (Louisville), & Bowling Green to advance to the final 4 next weekend.

8th Grade Division 2 - I've heard good things from Belfry, Lexington Catholic, & TK Stone (Hardin County) all year. LexCath beat Belfry in a close one this regular season, but I look for that score to flip-flop in the playoffs. At this level, Belfry has the playoff experience that LexCath isn't really used to. I will take Belfry to win this division. I expect to see Hopkinsville & TK Stone in the Final 4 with those two.

8th Grade Division 3 - This is a two horse race between New Harlan (Harlan County) & Meece (Somerset). New Harlan has one of the best defensive lines I have ever seen at this level. If Meece can find a way around it, I think they win this division. If not, the Patriots take it. I think Meece does just enough to get the job done. I'll take Glasgow, Owensboro Catholic, & CAL to round out the Final 4.

7th Grade (only 1 division) - It's hard to predict this division because you don't see or hear much about this level. Region 4 usually produces the best teams for the most part. Northern Pulaski and Corbin are the two representatives left in this region. Northern beat them 38-6 in the regular season, but I expect Corbin to be very much improved. This will be a ball game, winner likely to win the championship. I'll predict Newburg, Glasgow, & South Warren to round out the Final 4.

Does anyone have any of the middle scores?

Will Mayfield remain unbeaten or will Caldwell pull out the upset?

I don't know much about Casey Co has anyone seen them this year? Who Wins?
