Let's get this started! LET THE FUN BEGIN! Does Bowling Green high's 4,652th consecutive win streak come to an end? I doubt it.. But you never know I guess anything is possible. I'd hate for all those BG people to come up to Owensboro and get their belly full of good BBQ and then feel like they're going to puke after the game.

I read Lexington Catholic was able to run the ball on BG (I think their RB went for almost 200 yards). Idk how St.X did on the ground against the Purples thgh. Anyway Owensboro has to consistently produce positive yards on 1st down. If we're in a lot of 2nd and 9's the score will be lopsided like it's been the last 2-3 years. If I had to pick a score I'd say Bowling Green 31 Owensboro 14. With the gap opening up late in the game. Of course I'm hoping Owensboro can pull the upset thgh.

OHS very well may be able to run the ball on BG - but I think the poise of Locher will prove to be very helpful in this game. He is a hell of a high school QB. Is it just me or does OHS's stable of running backs seem very very small compaired to other high school backs. I mean they are fast and all but they just seem really small. I've watched News25 Home Team Friday the last couple weeks and looking at other backs from Southern Indiana those OHS backs looks like Pop Warner players. But I mean they are getting it done - just makes you wonder if they will be able to hold up on a stingy defense like BG.

I think you're pretty close with that score. But I wouldn't be surprised one bit if BG just blows OHS out or wouldn't be surprised if OHS sneaks in an upset. But if I had to bet I would say Bowling Green wins this game.

With the exception of our crosstown rival, Warren Central, this is the game I love to watch the most. I have great respect for the Red Devils program. We will be in the same district next year and they will be our toughest district challenge every year. I hope Warren Central continues to schedule us after they move to 4A, as Owensboro has for many years. I got a kick out of the "best Owensboro team ever" talk. Over the last 35 years, I have made many, many long trips home after a loss. To say they are the best ever, after 3 games in the season, is comical. I would like to bet the farm that there were at least 10 better teams than the present team and that's not taking anything away from this years team, because there have been some monster teams from Owensboro in the past. This years game should be a good one. Bowling Green should not be surprised by the Veer Offense, since they ran it forever. I believe our defense is as good as anybody's and I have faith our offense will show up. The Red Devils gave up a lot of points to a 2A team last week, but did score 50 points. St. X had to go to the air against the Purples because our Defense shut down the run game. I'm hoping they can do the same this week. You never know in high school football, but I think the Purples will pull out a win. This may be Owensboro's best shot at a win because the Purples have some of the best young players coming up that I have seen at Bowling Green. Uh-oh!

After watching some BG highlights - #43 and 44 for BG on defense look very fast and strong. As always, they pursue to the ball really well, the entire team. The difference between LexCath getting 200 and Oboro is that Owensboro lines up with 1 or 2 WR's and will run 80% or more of the time. LexCatch threw almost 50% of the time so BG had to respect that. BG knows this, and they look to have a really nice Strong safety. BG is going to stack the box and with their speed, I think it spells trouble for OHS. OHS only needs a crease and the big line may provide some of that. Nothing will available outside, it will have to be James and Lindsay at the FB.

It didn't look like BG's QB was too mobile, but I didn't see much of him. Huge TE. I think OHS needs some turnovers and good special teams play to be within striking distance.

I agree with everything you said. Over the past five years or so, Owensboro's fullback has killed us. Luckily, we have had very good defenses AND very good offenses in that time span. Our defense is as good as ever, but I'm not completely sold on the offense. Last weeks game with St. X was a great defensive battle between two of the best defenses in the state. It makes it harder to get a feel for either teams offense. I'm really just basing my pick on the assumption that St. X is a better team than Owensboro. I hope I'm right!

You are correct AP, ST X is better than OHS. OHS more speed, ST more depth and power and better D.

After seeing BG's defense (highlights only), I just don't see Oboro getting more than 7-14 pts unless special teams and defense plays a role. BG will score on OHS although how much will depends upon if OHS can move the ball. I thought Collins had a great D last year, BG reminds me of them, but better. I would bring the house on the QB for BG. That is the only chance, make him make quick decisions (he's tall, but not as mobile as last year's guy). If we rush 3 or 4 it's over. iF you give up a couple that's fine, but hit him hard, cause fumbles, int's...defense has to help a ton in this game. The BG offense Isn't nearly what it was the last couple of years, but it's still a good system with good athletes. If OHS' line is as good as advertised I think they can prove me wrong

I look for OHS to be pumped up and hitting hard. I hope they prove me wrong. OHS has a ton of athletes and speed as well. Any OHS win in the series has been very hard fought and it's been earned. Let's make BG earn this one.

I just watched BG on Hudl. Wow. OHS will have their hands full with the Purples. I'm so impressed with the job that Kevin Wallace has done at BG. He has turned them into a state and regional power. I'm not going to lie, I'm envious of the Purples and the success that they're having.

There isn't any big secret to how this game is going to go. OHS is going to try and run the ball. BG is going to put 9 guys in the box with a safety deep and man coverage on the 1 receiver. IF OHS can run the ball, I honestly think the Devils will win this game. However, I don't see how OHS is going to be able to run against a 9 man front. OHS likes to impose their will upon their opponents and if they can't, then they're usually "up the creek".

BG meanwhile, doesn't really blow me away offensively. I think they have a nice back #5 and a big TE (Cameron Wallace). The Purple offensive line is very good sized as well. I think BG will have some trouble against the OHS defense. Honestly, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Owensboro Catholic skill players may be better than BG, but the Purple offensive line more than makes up for that. The BG line opens up nice holes and gives the QB time to find receivers.

I'm not going to make a prediction for the game just yet (cause I have a radio show) but......I have a funny feeling about this game. My mind and everything I see tells me that BG wins this game by 2+ touchdowns but my gut tells me that something magical may happen at Rash on Friday night. Or, it could just be the Real Hacienda I just ate. Either way, I can't wait to see the game!

D58 - you're not kidding about Catholic's skill players. Although their fans are whiny, I am really impressed with Morton and the Riney kid. The QB as well. Morton had a beautiful catch and run and another TD over the middle and Riney had a great TD pass. Great speed from both and the RB was pretty freaking quick. BG has the better line and by FAR the better D, but I have to think some of Catholic's team would play somwhere for most teams.

Reading some of these comments are funny. Just a couple of simple facts: Bowling Green scored 40 points on a very good 4A Lexington Catholic team; Bowling Green defense shut out Saint X for the entire game and OT; OHS gave up 34 points to a 2A Owensboro Catholic that doesn't have near the offensive line that BG does. IF OHS stays within 21 points of BG, it will be because of their defense causing a turnover and picking up an easy score. Someone said something magical may happen. That could be true, because we all know the all-world official M. Teasley will be calling the game.

I just always copy and paste from google images - if it's a gif just preview the gif wait for it to start playing then right click on it and copy then paste it into your message. Same for any image - always works for me.

The purples lost a ton of starters. Their defense is impressive, but their. offense is still growing. Barring devil turnovers, I think this game will be close the first half and maybe into the 3rd. I actually think BG will try and let their D win the game. BG 31- 17 but close enough for a while to give some heartburn. If the devils can get 2 or more scores on Defense and ST they will have a chance.
