HS STRENGTH PROGRAM THAT WORKS

Coaches,

I have spent time with several strength coaches from NC, SC, and VA and have formulated a plan that works well at the High School level. We have been able to implement this plan at Havelock HS and it has helped our football program to become one of the best programs in the state. This program helped us to win three 3A State Championships and a runner-up appearance in the last four years. It is very easy to install at the high school level and has several different variations to keep your athletes off balance. Variation and muscle confusion is what makes our players continue to grow and improve in their over-all athletic ability. In this plan I have included our detailed work-outs for in-season, off-season, and summer. I will also include our red and blue wall % charts, several weight room changeups, a speed and agility workout, unconventional but very relative warm-ups, and a dvd that will show and explain some of our core principles. I have also coached in the NC Shrine Bowl Game, Semper Fi All-American Game, and will coach in the Under-Armour All-American game this year.

  • Past Clinics I have spoken at on this program:
Glazier, NIKE coach of the Year Clinics, Wake Forest, Virginia, NC Football Coaches Clinic, NC State, UNC, LSU, South Carolina Coaches Clinic, Tennessee, and hosted several coaches at my school to implement the plan.

Quentin Goodin

2016 Campbellsville (Ky.) Taylor Co. point guard Quentin Goodin is the bona fide best prospect in his class. He's collected countless offers from some of college basketball's best schools.

Where he'll go or where he's leaning is yet to be seen or heard.

Seriously, I'm pretty close with the Goodin's and have no real clue to where he'll sign.

I mean I have some insight, like Goodin really likes Florida and Billy Donovan, his best relationship is probably with Richard Pitino and Minnesota and Louisville is pretty high up there. Though they have not offered yet Ohio State has been around for sometime. If they do offer, surely the Buckeyes will be in the mix.

Texas is a new name emerging in his recruitment. Since the hire of Shaka Smart, the Longhorns have shown an increased level of interest. Darrin Horn visited with Goodin at school Friday. The tone of the visit was gauging interest and it proved to be worthwhile since Goodin is very interested in the Longhorns, especially with Smart at the helm.

Kentucky is the only school in the state to have not yet offered Goodin. And I believe that's the one he really wants. A lot has been made out of this waiting game, but to Goodin he's not really waiting on them. It's a "if they do they'll be in consideration, if not there's plenty of others" deal.

A decision date is really still up in the air. At one time, he had wanted to make it by this summer, but has since moved from that. There's talk about doing it during the early signing period, but nothing is set in stone. Plus he's picking up new schools frequently so that may extend it a while, too.

Spring Practice

Today I begin my spring tour at duPont Manual.

The Crimsons possess one of the more talented rosters in the state, even though they lose Mike Nero, Ty'Ron Horton and Jordon Gonzalez.

The top talent on this team for 2015 is just a sophomore, and it is Jairus Brents. Brents holds offers from Kentucky and Louisville. The cornerback is a superior athlete and this year will be looking to hone in on his position and assignments pertaining to his position.

Truth be told, Brents wasn't able to help his team much as a freshman because he couldn't quite grasp coverage concepts. However, this year he is said to be ready and will likely be an every-down starter.

It's somewhat uncommon for an underclassman to be considered the most talented player on a roster, in general. It might sound a little more farfetched knowing Manual has a Division-I commit.

That Division-I commit is defensive end Derek Dorsey.

Dorsey committed to Louisville not long after a scholarship was tendered. He's a pretty balanced defensive lineman in regards to pass rush vs. stopping the run. And he may have had a few more offers coming his way, and still might depending on what his camp schedule will entail.

He's a very polished prospect with room to grow. He seems like an all-state lock in the preseason.

One to watch is sophomore defensive lineman Tajh Rice. His fame bears a striking similarity to former Louisville defensive tackle Brandon Dunn.

Rice is a strong yet mobile raw prospect. His ceiling is incredibly high as is his motor. Seeing him workout a few times as well as practice I'd say he also has a desire to learn and get better every day.

Keion Wakefield

Can't believe I'm just now making him a premium thread.

Anyways, Wakefield currently holds three offers -- Kentucky, Indiana and Cincinnati.

He wants to obtain many more, though. One that has particularly caught his eye is Louisville. Although, as many times as they've had him in front of them, the Cardinals are still yet to offer.

He has also long called Oregon his favorite. That dream might be out the door, as it looks now with his senior season looming.

There's a lot of uncertainty with his camp schedule, right now. Last year he want from coast-to-coast camping. This year, however, things might get as little more regional.

Kentucky is in the driver seat, for now. But there's no telling what the situation will be if more offers roll in.

Statement from Trinity regarding Bob Beatty

Trinity athletic director Rob Saxton responded to Kentucky Preps' request for comment on the status of Bob Beatty:

We are aware that Coach Bob Beatty may be considered as a candidate for a high school football coaching position in Arkansas. We also realize that successful coaches such as Coach Beatty will always attract interest from other schools. It is a compliment to Coach Beatty and to Trinity that such interest is there. At this stage of his career, it makes sense for him to scratch those itches of career curiosity. We support Coach Beatty exploring whether this fits for him and his family.

Daphne AL 7 on 7

Coaches,

We will be hosting a 2 day 7 on 7 tournament on June 26th-27th. The 3rd Annual Jubilee City Championship will be held at Trione Park in Daphne Al. We had a great tournament last year. Pensacola Catholic defeated Mandeveville La. to win the tournament last year. There was great competition throughout. We had schools representing 5 states last year and we are hoping to add to that list this year. We are looking to have 24 teams committed before April 1st. The cost is only $300 per school and you can bring as many players as you would like. Each school is guaranteed 8 games over two days. We will take the first 24 teams to register. This will be an exciting event with further details of sponsors to come. We will give T-shirts to the winning team and 5 T-shirts for coaches of every team.

Pool play will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday. You will play 4 pool play games on Friday afternoon and 3 pool play games on Saturday morning. The single elimination tournament will begin at 1:30 pm on Saturday with the Championship game beginning at approximately 5:00 pm on Saturday as well. Also, follow us on twitter @jubileecity7on7.

We look forward to putting together another first class event.

Few notes from U of L's 2/11 prospect day

Louisville hosted a group of potential prospects Wednesday night. The group toured the facilities -- which included a trip to Papa John's Cardinal Stadium -- was measured, checked out the uniforms and equipment, spoke with coaches and attended the Louisville-Pittsburgh basketball game.

With these prospect days and the high number of recruits they bring in, the majority of those in attendance will not obtain scholarship offers from the school they visit. And Wednesday at Louisville was no different.

However, there were a few that were in attendance who already had offers and/or legitimate interest from the Cardinals.

Rodjay Burns -- He was on hand for the unofficial visit, after being offered by UofL last month. It's safe to say Louisville is in the driver's seat in this one. Burns' only other offer right now is from Cincinnati and I would say it's unlikely for him to pick the Bearcats over the Cardinals. Although his recruitment is not quite over yet. Burns is seeing interest rising from all over the place right now. This camp circuit will really determine his fate. And with that said, I don't think his interest in Louisville would have much pull if some of college football's powerhouses came into the situation -- like Ohio State who recently visited him.

Walker Wood -- It's so early to start really breaking down Wood's recruitment, because he's only a sophomore. He does hold an offer from Louisville and some others are starting to take notice. What I can say is that since Louisville was his first offer it should have some kind of pull on him.

Keion Wakefield -- He does not have an offer from the Cardinals. He's now camped with them, took several visits and still no offer. So I think it's safe to say there won't be one. It's nothing about Wakefield, it's more about what Louisville wants in a slot receiver. It's never really over in recruiting, fences can be mended quite quickly. Though there's a high level of doubt he'll ever get the offer from his hometown school.

New schools for in-state WR?

Duke and Florida reached out to 2016 Louisville (Ky.) Male wide receiver Keion Wakefield recently, via Twitter.

Duke is brand new to him. They expressed interest in getting him to camp there soon.

Florida has been involved for a while, but still it's like new. While Joker Phillips was in Gainsville, he recruited Wakefield and had him come down for a camp as a sophomore. Well it's wasn't the best experience for a young wide out. For the long trip, he didn't get as many reps as he had hoped.

Even after Phillips and Florida parted ways, the Gators have still hung around. Last spring, while in Kentucky to watch Damien Harris' spring game, the then Gator coach Brian White came into Male to speak with coaches about their star wide receiver.

Now the Gators have hired Greg Nord, formerly at WKU, who is familiar with Wakefield and the Commonwealth.

[UPDATE] 2016 WR Robbie Lofton is enrolled at Tates Creek

Robbie Lofton, who played at Bowling Green this past season, is now enrolled at Tates Creek. Not sure what happened, but he did not go to Scott Co. as was planned.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound pass catcher is a legit Division-I prospect. He's received interest from Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri and WKU.
