Chuck Smith has not had this much talent in a long time....the Rebels are young and hungry to return Boyle County Football to the top of KY HS FB. The team is BIG and FAST with several kids shining in Spring sports and anxious to get back on the field. The Rebels have four kids running sprints for the BCHS Track Team that run a sub-11.8 100 meter dash....Reese Smith 2020 (11.7) WR/S, Marquese Kinsley 2020 (11.7) KR/PR/RB, Chris Duffy 2019 (11.3) WR/RB/DB and Landon Bartleson 2020 (11.0) RB. Bartleson is 6'1" 185lbs and played a lot of minutes last season while Reese Smith was All-State Honorable Mention in 2016 as a Freshman.
OL/DL have always been a vital part of BC's title runs. Back in the early 2000's they were usually undersized but would "out technique" their opponents and dominate the LOS. This year there are several players (over all classes) from 230 to 300 lbs. Will Bramel 2018 (6'5" 270lbs) has 10 D1 offers and is the best of a very good group of kids. Mitchell Paycheck 2018 will anchor the DL w/Wilson Kelly 2020 (6'2" 285lbs), Clete Hellyer 2018 (6'3" 210) and Aaron Hatter 2019 (6'5" 230).
Skill kids (WR/DB) are exceptional with speed to burn all over the field. In addition to the kids listed above there are several more that will contribute on offense and defense Nick Walker 2018 WR/S/LB, Hagen Wilburn 2018 WR/KR/PR/CB, Reiley Colwick 2020 WR and Cameron Guinn 2019 WR.
LB/TE/RB have potential to be solid but will be largely unproven. Lead by returning starters Kagen Jackson 2018, Kaden Gervacio 2018 (team captain and leader) and Zach Hodge 2018, the linebackers will have some new contributors that will be asked to step up. Aaron Hatter and Clete Hellyer will anchor the TE position. The RB position will have several important contributors in Tanner Crawford 2019, Landon Bartleson, Chris Duffy and Blake Biggs 2019.
QB has a returning starter in Sam Tiller 2018 but Reed Lanter 2020 has done a great job leading the team in the Spring. He has tremendous potential and could win the starting position in the Fall.
Special Teams will be a work-in-progress and needs someone to step up in the kicking/punting position. The good thing is that the coverage guys will be fast which will make up for the lack of distance in kicks.
This year has potential to be a championship season for Boyle County Football...the attitude of the team is fantastic, they are working extremely hard in the off-season and make no mistake there is ONE GOAL for the 2018 Rebels and that's to make it back to Bowling Green and bring #8 back to Danville.
